Day 11 – Interconnectedness or It’s a small world after all
As we continue sending mettā to others this week, a thought occurred. And during meditation when do they not? Here’s what it is: we’re living in the era of “us vs. them,” primed to think of others — especially those who are different or who disagree with us — as separate from and alien to us, as “other.”
But when we practice meditation and especially lovingkindness, we are steered we steer ourselves towards others and closer to interconnectedness or interdependence.
What is that, you say?
All our actions have an effect on other lives and vice versa. Everything in the universe is connected, and our actions and choices (and thoughts!) can have a ripple effect on the world around us. Let’s sit with that while we wish mettā to our loved ones.
