Am I the only outraged person about the case of the woman who left her three day old baby in the care of neighbors and now she is jail?! Yes, she has a record; yes, she “propositioned” an officer after or during a massage for a little “extra;” yes, she was arrested for driving with a suspended license; and yes, she skipped bail on that charge.
BUT, are these not the actions of a desperate woman? Her husband told her they could not afford to have the baby and I think she did what she thought was the best course of action for her baby. According to NY State law, you are not guilty if you abandon your child in proper care up to five days after the birth. She was well within the limits AND left her daughter on the steps of her pastor’s house. What does it benefit her to stay in jail?
