I try to keep up with the Joneses and so forth, but sometimes I tend to let them slip away. Here’s what’s been happening in the world, at least things that I missed, being all preoccupied with my own shizzle. Perhaps you’ve missed ‘em too:
- Augusto Pinochet, Chilean dictator, died on December 10th
- Kofi Annan made his final speech to the United Nations this week. His term expires on December 31st, after which he will be replaced by South Korean politician Ban Ki-Moon.
- The final report from the Iraqi Study group was released. Our president said, “There are strong recommendations there. It’s an important document.”
- There’s a Swede in space!
- The Holocaust Conference is being held in Tehran, Iran. The purpose of the conference is to determine whether the holocaust (the steady, massive extermination of jews during WWII) indeed took place. I thought this had been determined already; evidently not. What is really intriguing is who is in attendance: David Duke (former KKK leader). Hmmm…
