Monsieur Sarkozy, I Presume?

Posted on May 7, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

And so France has elected itself a conservative right-wing politician as their head of state. Joy. Nicolas Sarkozy has an interesting background and I believe we should be watching out how his politics will play out.  According to some sources the New York Times , they believe that the election of Sarkozy is akin to…

If You’re Interested in Choral Music

Posted on April 13, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

For years I sang in choirs whose repertoire varied from Gregorian chant to Christmas songs to occasional “modern” music such as Aaron Copland. I stopped singing in choirs over six years ago. My “break” with choral music was mostly due to my desire to sing something a little more contemporary and maybe have a solo,…

April Meditation

Posted on April 7, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

Based on last year’s April Meditation, I took advantage of the fact that one of the readers (thanks Chris) included a poem in his comment. I didn’t quite appreciate it as much as I do now. Or maybe it just struck a note today more than it did last year.  © copyright Thomas Custom Digital,…

December 7, 1969 – March 29, 2007

My friend Steve (some of you may know him as my friend S.) passed away on Thursday afternoon. He was in the hospital, with his family close to him. He was sick for a while, though there seemed to be, on and off, some ray of hope of recovery. The news of his death have…

Reading, Reading

Posted on March 27, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

Spurned by a friend’s blog post, I thought I would take an informal poll (since I still don’t know about mysql!) on what my readers read. I’ve assigned random numbers to some choices and perhaps will then input the data in an excel spreadsheet and post it on here (gawd, I’m a nerd). Basically, select the numbers and post…

The Moral Right

Posted on March 26, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

It has come to my attention that Senator, Republican Senator Daniel Patrick of Texas is offering $500 for women to give up their babies for adoption instead of aborting them. Under Patrick’s SB 1567, women would qualify for a $500 payment from the state within 60 days of signing away all parental rights to their newborn children….

Get That Piece of Wood Off the Floor!

Posted on March 26, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

Leeza Gibbons might have had a goddess themed birthday party, but she’s a piece of driftwood on the dance floor. She talked about the mambo and how it’s about sensuality, self and shimmying. She did none of that. I’m casting the vote to get her off…plus, she’s not pleasant at all, she may smile, but…

Food Notes: Veggie Lasagna

Posted on March 11, 2007March 11, 2022 by romanagiulia

This week, I want to dedicate this space to my non-meat eating friends. I thought that it would be a nice gesture after the super meat packed recipe from last week. I borrowed recipe from the premiere Italian cooking magazine, La Cucina Italiana and personalized it, like anyone should with recipes. It is definitely a cool-climate recipe and one best…
