Teaching

I teach in a variety of ways. I work as an Educational Consultant for a
non-profit organization called Teaching Matters. Most of my work
is centered on collaborating with New York City public school
teachers
on implementing/integrating technology in their curricula. I mostly
work with middle schools and high schools by creating websites,
webquests and digital documentaries. I believe that constructivist
learning is essential in a classroom with technology and believe in
student-lead learning. When students are guided to learn (as opposed to
forced to learn a mandated curriculum), they more easily take ownership
of what they are learning. If you're curious about some of the projects
that have been created, please visit TechieTeachers.
I also teach as an adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College and sometimes at NYU.
I usually teach a history of mass media, as well as communication
theory. I'm interested in all forms of communications, but mostly from
an historical perspective. I am fascinated in the time period between
1850 and 1970 when most of the tools we use today had their birth. You
could say that I am a modernist.
